Be prepared to...hunt for home hazard!

Hey King Mountain Neighbors!

Is your home earthquake safe?

The city of Bellingham's disaster preparedness team wants us all to know that the majority of injuries resulting from earthquakes are due to falling objects, not structural failure. A home hazard hunt is the first step toward identifying and correcting these vulnerabilities. From strapping your water heater and confirming flexible connections to appliances, to relocating or securing heavy or glass objects on high shelves, to fastening tall pieces of furniture to walls, every corrective action reduces our exposure to injury during an earthquake.

A home hazard hunt allows the entire household to get involved, to learn about earthquakes, find and correct potential safety hazards, and be prepared to make it through the next quake.
